Research Assistant (m/f/d) - AI for autonomous Mobility Systems
with the possibility of a doctorate

As a part of the high-tech agenda, the THI is being expanded to become the Bavarian AI Mobility Center. Currently, around 70 scientists are already researching the use of artificial intelligence to shape the mobility of tomorrow. The spectrum ranges from applications of autonomous driving and unmanned flying to digital production. In addition to technology research, research is also being conducted into the ethical and social implications or business models of AI.

Your tasks

  • You are involved in state-of-the-art AI research, e.g. in the area of Deep Reinforcement Learning, and develop new AI methods for autonomous and safe vehicles and mobility systems.
  • You author scientific publications and participate in national and international conferences.
  • You participate in the preparation of grant proposals and acquisition of third-party funding.
  • You are responsible for supervising theses and providing imaginative support for the research and teaching activities of the professorship.

    Your profile

  • You have completed your Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or comparable with outstanding results.
  • You have experience in the application of Machine Learning, ideally Deep Learning and Deep Reinforcement Learning.
  • You have strong programming skills (preferably in Python) and are proficient with common ML/DL-frameworks (Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, PyTorch).
  • Ideally, you have experience in vehicle or traffic simulation (e.g., Carla, AirSim, LGSVL, Flow, Commonroad, SUMO) as well as ROS.
